Sharks Supporters Thread

With this kind of performance, I'm not expecting sharks to pass the quarter finals.

Yes he was, but better than all cold.

I pointed this out in the general Super 14 thread which was probably not the best place to do so, and I realise most of you may read that too, but based on this discussion I'll post it here :

So the question that arises is how much of a part do referees play in the outcome of the match... we always bitch about refs but I was not actually watching this game but following online commentary. This is what I picked up :

1st half
2min Penalty to Sharks
5min Penalty to Cheetahs
7min Penalty to Sharks
14min Penalty to Sharks
29min Penalty to Sharks
34min Three penalties in a row to the Sharks
35min Penalty to Sharks
38min Penalty to Sharks
40min Penalty to Sharks

Total - Sharks 10 Cheetahs 1

Then : "Welcome back folks and in a bizarre set of circumstances, referee Jonathan Kaplan has been replaced by Pro Legoete because he has a stomach bug! But the show must go on..."

2nd half
47min Penalty to Cheetahs
55min Penalty to Cheetahs
57min Penalty to Cheetahs
60min Penalty to Cheetahs
66min Penalty to Sharks
69min Penalty to Cheetahs
73min Penalty to Cheetahs
75min Penalty to Cheetahs
76min Penalty to Sharks
79min Penalty to Sharks
80min Penalty to Sharks

Total - Sharks 4 (only improved by the consolation three in the last few minutes) Cheetahs 7

There appears to be some majorly different interpretation going on here....

Yes, that's why I said this:
From a real ref to a sub-standard one.

Yep! Rugby is becoming a referees game, Struggle for power and supremacy at the cost of the game. They must make a whistle that backfires when you blow it to much in a short time-span.

The Sharks won't make it this season. They have an inexperienced head coach on Super14 level, and are playing poor rugby.

I see the Hooters girls are there.

Yummy!

They got 2 boxes and convered it into a hooters, you have to book via them for tickets to the place. Plan on going when the Sharks get back, lets hope by then we still have something to play for!

As much beer, chicken wings and sliders as you can eat! + Rugby + Boobs = HEAVEN!

What are sliders? I can't eat a single chicken wing without wanting a bucket - no, not a KFC one, a LUKEWATSON bucket. So, what are sliders?

I have a Fort Lauderdale Hooters TShirt (authentic) that I now have to get rid of - I'd hate to be associated with the Sharks. Now, if only Loftus can get a suite like this....

Mmmm - business opportunity knocks...

Nope Naka said he told the freestaters to not contend for the ball on the ground anymore after half time as they were giving away too many penalties. So the free state guys were just playing smarter;)

No, if you look back to the last few matches of the 2009 S14, you'll see that the refs in those matches caused the sharks to lose.
This keeps happening, something must be done about it.

Cost them the Currie cup as well. Damned refs!!!!

Yes I also feel they are not focusing on the right problem here.

The sharks are not firing on all cylinders and are just not thus far looking up to being a semi finalist. I hope they find form and soon.

In this age of professionalism, I expect more from the team I have supported since I was a lighty, especially since I am now expected to show my "true colours" by purchasing an exorbitantly priced shirt at the beginning of each competition. As a "professional" supporter, I am considering supporting another team, so at least when I can wear my investment with some joy when the side wins, instead of blaming the refs.

Just the team for you :p

I've been a professional supporter of this team since I was a laaitie.
And you can rest assured that they are always everybody's second team. :D

Just remember, we are down to earth supporters that will always congratulate the other team. Okay, some of us will, the others will blame the ref. :)
And above all. We make sure to wear our jerseys in public after a loss. (Yes, that's me you saw on a Sunday)

But more seriously. Stick to your team. No matter how bad things are.
I will never support another team than the Cheetahs.

Too true. I was a supporter when the bulls took the wooden spoon (not a happy one mind you but a loyal one), and I was one when we lost to the vrystaat on loftus in the CC finals :cries:

But I will still be one even if we suffer such loses as the lions have the last decade.
