I watched these ages ago, it is good as the reviews. Probably Sean Bean at his best... I have not read the novels so I do not how they compare to the series. But the set and camera work is outstanding in that time of production.

Do they need to be watched in any order or are they stand-alone ?

Watch them according to the episodes airing date. It should follow the years in correct order.

I am thinking of watching this again, but I really want to read the novels.

Thanks for reminding me!

I've watched a few- they came up on NZB Matrix a while ago :)

Watch in order- there is some character development and ongoing storyline you shouldn't miss.

A little cheesy, but I've enjoyed it. Similar to the Hornblower series- historical drama with some action.

How did you hear about Sharpe?

The books are very good and well worth a read. It gives you an accurate idea of how wars were fought during that time and how the culture of the time influenced people and their lives.

Seen one or two of the movies and they seem to be true to the books as far as possible.
