I need a new shaving blade, I walk into pick and pay and bought some blades. But only after wards notice it is disposable blades. My current one use excel blades. Which blade /shaving thing should I get. It seems certain shops sell certain brands. I normally shave in the shower.

Why?

I'm just using a fixed lion razor for the bits I still shave otherwise imho just go with a decent bruan electric shaver, the foil of course as rotary/other is just kak. Unless you want to keep on paying $$$ for Gillette.

Just grow out your beard :coffee:

A blade for me last about a month. So I use about 12 a year
1 blade lasted my about year as my beard is mostly grown out past hipster and there is very little to shave. Saves money on blades but might even out if you look at what beard upkeep costs.

Personally I use a Schick Quattro Titanium , I shave every other day m. I bought a six pack late 2019 for R179 and it lasted me up until 1.5 months ago. This time the 4 pack cost me R189

My secret is I apply conditioner to my face before applying shaving cream.

I always shave post shower otherwise it just doesn't work. Then I follow-up with a decent vitamin e cream.

I used shave post shower but found that I miss spots due to either rushing or poor visibility due to the steam

Works great for me and for R250 it's cheap as chips. Batteries last 30 days + as well.
EDIT: see it's even cheaper at R215 https://www.dischem.co.za/philips-r-shaver-two-head-battery-pq206-18-603

I have a safety razor that I shave with on the weekend for which the blades are dirt cheap. Quite enjoy the ritual of it. Then just a electric shaver in the week although with all the mask wearing I don't bother with that at the moment.

I have bristles for facial hair. So I simply grow it out, and trim the edges with a blade, I have a cheap Wahl all in one clipper set. Hair Clipper, beard trimmer and ear trimmer. I use the beard trimmer to mow the beard. It takes me basically a month to go from clean shaven to full beard. I am thinking to stop mowing it and grow it out and see how long my beard can get.

Get some Muhle blades, great quality and price.

I have four boxes of these going spare, if anyone wants? A pack retails for R53, R100 for the lot

Been using the BIC Flex 4 for a number of years now since Gillette got angels from heaven to manufacture their blades and passed the cost to the consumer

I am happy with the blades
