Shell declares force majeure on Jhb fuel

I am 100% behind Shell on this.

They need to protect themselves, especially when government is not capable of this.

What will Shell do? Employ mercenaries, or get the army to accompany the trucks?

Now the strikers will be a-complaining because they'll get shot at while trying to burn trucks. So stupid.

There's more than one way to strike, but the way they're doing it just is not on.

Agreed with you.

What Shell will do now is absolutely NOTHING. No further fuel will be delivered to garages. They will all run dry in a matter of hours or days from now.

By declaring a force majeure they can no longer be held liable for any losses due to not providing fuel to outlets. They have no further obligation to do so until the strike is resolved.

Just heard from an insider that all trucks have been parked indefinitely and that production have been stopped for the time being.

I can't help but think that others will follow suite.

Bad news for consumers though.

I want to witness everything coming to a standstill. No fuel, little food and lots of chaos. Just like in fiction.

Shell will lose money if they dont deliver petrol, so they`ll be dong their best to get the petrol through despite the strike.

Time for a state of emergency, methinks.

Wow... Is this it? Will they seriously strike until there is no fuel/business/food available?

Then they will start complaining like the Marikana guys that they don't have money to buy food, etc. for there families.
For every action there is a reaction!!!!

Wait a while and see.

They have just protected themselves from legal action due to the fact that they cannot supply the fuel to retailers. Apparently they decided to protect their vehicles, as well as the drivers still willing to work and stopped deliveries in total for now.

Have you heard that dumb prick on the news yesterday? Some fukcwit working at a mine, said he has a wife, two kids and a girlfriend. Now his girlfriend has run away because he doesn't make a lot of money.

/facepalm.

This is the kind of sh.it we are sitting with in this country.

Wait seriously? :D

This is terrible news.

I would ask "why hasn't the government stepped in?", but that would be naive of me :(

I'm sure they are applying their minds to it.

Alienate voters or bring country to a halt.... mind applying could take a while.
