Shengen visa: Funds

Anyone got a Shengen visa to France recently? What sort of funds are they looking for (i.e. amount per day)?

I was hoping to just get away with my credit card as proof of funds.

Thanks, that's a different site to the one I'm using to book the appointment http://fr.vfsglobal.za.com/

For those interested, it seems to recommend 55 euros per day.

The one website is the official website of the French consulate in Cape Town, and the other one is the website of the company that handles visa appointments on behalf of the French embassy.
