Shock booze law proposal

My landline once rang, it was my own cell phone calling me. Some lady found it on a beach 40km away.

Still have no idea wtf happened that night :p
 
I propose we add to that law of dofness, penalise carmakers for selling cars to every idiot who has an accident....

Edit, while we are at it, lets chuck the parents of criminals into jail too, since it their fault for birthing the criminal ...
 
Dumb regulation. Liquor licensing is already regionally controlled and as many already said, take it up with the government and local authorities. This proposed law is to punish the enabler, people simply don't want to be responsible... punish the abusers. This regulation will also be abused by the consumer, it is going to be a mess when instances such as domestic abuse are being blamed on your local pub.

It is times like these where recreational drug users (not abusers) are shaking their heads...
 
In principle this is fine... but how do you actually determine such a thing.

If you have a bar fly who sits at the same bar all night, and the same barman happily fills that glass the whole night, then lets that guy drive home... yes perhaps that's an example of someone who should be held responsible.

But what about every other scenario...

Guy buys drinks from several different bottle stores, drinks all on the way home.
What about someone who bar hops, is the first bar responsible ? or the last ?

How are they going to track who is actually giving the drinks to the person.
 
My biggest issue with this proposal is what does it mean for transferring of liability in other situations?

The driver is responsible but you can't tell me that people who let him get in to his car after seeing how drunk he was, hold no responsibility?

If you see a kid with a gun walking into a school, do you look the other way? Then why not a drunk driver?

The problem is how do you know who else is responsible? It's impossible

I can see pubs breathalysing patrons to cover their asses to ensure you're not drunk before they can give you a beverage that will make you drunk. Makes perfect sense really.
 
This is not realistic , at the end of the day everyone should know what their limit is but obviously I agree to not to serve a dop to a patron who is already had a few to many
 
Making laws and enforcing them are two different things .
They should try to enforce the existing laws before they make new ones .
There is no enforcement of most laws so what they are proposing is an exercise in futility and a wast of time and money .
BTW i have a liquor licence .
