Seems it is nationwide. The future in SA is private cemeteries.

Interesting idea. Although, how does the actual process work? Do you buy the little piece of land as a once off and the cemetery takes care of it forever? Or do you have a monthly payment plan? What do you do if someone stops paying? Dig up the corpse and burn it?

That would be harsh  they had an article the other day about them will try add link. Not sure how they will fund maintenance once sold out. Maybe they will maintain x% in a fund for maintenance but that would be guessing as the article never mentioned. But maybe there is an end after the end, unless you're jimmy hendrix not many will be visiting your grave in 200 years time. Judging by the pics hanging out with the dead could become the last safe outdoor space in our cities :D

It appears they will use a non-profit investment vehicle for the in-perpetuity maintenance aspect.

The restricted investment is the cash investment in a fully registered non-profit organisation (“NPO”), specifically created to ensure the in-perpetuity maintenance of the Durbanville Memorial Park. It is intended to be utilised for the other parks as well, once there is more clarity on the effect of this change.

Why should the community pay if the family couldn't be arsed to do anything either?
The dead dude/chick doesn't give a hoot... so dig up and maybe have a communal pit for the bones

Yup - cremate me, don't let a box of bits take up space / cost
