Could the following complaints be forwarded to Telkom Management as we get no joy out of their help lines.
THE INABILITY TO ENABLE INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING WITH A USB MODEM.
Deception in marketing strategy.
I was lead to believe Telkom was the only supplier of modems.
Lead to believe when I made my application that I could share a connection with an USB modem (One month later. 3 IT companies and Telkom (0800 375 375) I have found out that the modem cannot be shared.
The only answer you get from Telkom is that we don't support networking although the software that comes with the ADSL gives instructions to set internet sharing uo with 98 SE which does not work.
When you phone 0800 375 375, 0800 600 126 or 0800 237 500 you get put on hold or cut off or keep getting transfered to another consultant. The only two helphull people on 0800 375 375 were Gavin Hagin and a superviosr with the name of Lawrence.
Both the above mentioned persons acknowledge there is a problem with 98SE smf yjr ADSL modem software compatibality.
The software distributed with the ADSL package does not work within the 98SE environment and I was directed to a sight Carrick Solutions to down load new software (RASPPPOE)which still did not solve the problem.
Telkom's solution is to purchase a new modem or upgrade my Operating System as the 14 day turnround period has expired.
I made approximately 40 calls to 0800 375 375 and was not told any of the above until today. I feel that Telkom sold me the system under false pretenses and does not want to accept responsibility for their mistake.
I feel that Telkom should be held responsible and either exchange my modem for an Ethernet modem or refund me my money and I will buy my own modem at a fraction of the price for which I purchased the USB modem which does not meet my needs.Perhaps the lady that gave me the incorrect information should take responsibilty and pay me out????
