Anyone into Shoegaze and Post Rock music?

Bands such as: Bark Psychosis, Slowdive, Ride, Hammock, July Skies, For Against, Chapterhouse, Pale Saints, Blind Mr Jones..............I could go on.

I haven't come across many people in SA who are really into these genres (especially the late 80s and 90s bands).

I love Post Metal, if that's the same as Post Rock? ;) I guess Shoegaze bands are okay, not really my thing though. What annoys the crap out of me are people who suddenly like Shoegaze because they wanna appear "hardcore bruuu"! I've given it a fair try but I'm more of a prog/death/grind/post type person it seems.

Called "shoegazing" because the musicians in these bands stood still during live performances in a detached, introspective, non-confrontational state, hence the idea that they were gazing at their shoes. The heavy use of effects pedals also contributed to the image of performers looking down at their feet during concerts.

Guess I learnt something new today.

I have no idea what that is?

Shoegazing (also known as shoegaze) is a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged from the United Kingdom in the late 1980s, pioneered by bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, and Ride.

Try youtubing some of their songs.

You mean you don't care for things called silly names like "SLAM DEATH METAL" ?! How dare thee...

:D

Sometimes I go to wikipedia to look up bands on my player and think "So that was dance punk (or any other) I listened?"
