Morning Folks,
I need to build an online shop, basically e-commerce - problem is that I only have one product that I sell. I have my domain registered so all I need to do is build the site & add a payment gateway,
The site will have very little traffic/visitors. I have looked at all of the offerings, both local & international; however, all of them are excessive in what they offer.
I am a start-up so cashflow is tight, which is why I was looking for a free service in a company that I can grow into their paid offering.
Even though I only have one product to start, I need to have a payment gateway which is my stumbling block.
Please can you advise as to what my best option is?
Thank you in advance, Linda

Well than you don't really need a full e-commerce script.

I would suggest you use payment links or pay now buttons, from Payfast or Yoco.

Build a static site with Publii, add the codes/links and you have a blazing fast site. With publii you build the site on your pc, with payment codes and all, and test it. Once you satisfied, you just upload it to the public_html folder of your webhost. No databases needed. Very fast and very safe.

Even the cheapest local hosting you can find will be perfect.

If you want to go the wordpress/woocommerce route, which will be slow, both has free plugins for payment. I prefer the yoco one as it keeps the customer on your site., less friction.
