Interesting story in the Business Day...

http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/frontpage.aspx?ID=BD4A882645

Examples of the supposed innuendos were comments by ANC chief whip Khotso Khumalo to the effect that the ANC had serious problems with the involvement of the department in the manufacture of set top boxes for digital broadcasting and its interference with the undersea cable project.

In her defence, Shope-Mafole said she had been accused many times of conflicts of interest.
“There have been innuendos about undersea cables and me benefiting and my partner benefiting,” she said.

Perhaps if your mandates had not been so blatantly sh*tting in the face of logic, people wouldn't have needed to question why you were making them. When faced with a difficult problem, the simplest explination is usually the correct one. It is therefore not surprising that people concluded you were looking out for your own interests and those of your partner.

Khumalo denied the DA’s claims that the ANC had been gunning for Shope-Mafole, saying there was “no vendetta” against her. She was not appointed because she belonged to the ANC, and her contract ended only in 2011, he said.

If we are to believe that no vendetta exists, why didn't he, or other party heavyweights raise the alarm about a potential conflict of interest before Shope-Mafole* announced her intention to join the breakaway party?

*ic damnit, because of you I have to fight to stop myself from typing Stalin-Mafole :p.

Well said!

“There have been innuendos about undersea cables and me benefiting and my partner benefiting,” she said.

“I think if people feel there is a need for an investigation, an investigation must be done because, really, this issue comes out in all kinds of guises all of the time. I can tell you, you will not find any kind of fraud or impropriety in anything that I do.

Well said... now find an independent investigator and let them bring the skeletons out of the closet...

Oh, and Lyndall... you will not appoint an investigator... somebody else (the public protector, perhaps?) will have to appoint one...

How does one go about explaining that YES the people feel there is a need for an investigation?
Both into the "innuendos" as well as to her competence to actually be minister.

Not so sure about that - IMO she looks a bit bloated - like she ate all the doughnuts and spoiled the tea party.

Well you could always give in to my subliminal telepathy :p :D.
Ke? You can browse e-governmint with your TV?
How?
Browse would perhaps be a bit too strong a description - methinks it will be more like them teletext pages filled with one-party state propaganda - that is after the ANC and its splinter group embrace each other in a post-elections seamless coalition.

I find it interesting that the [searchforum]"DoC Job Fraud"[/searchforum] scandal did not enter into the discussions.

do these so called people actually know, i mean care?

:D I think someone just offered her a slice of cake and she's indicating how big to cut it.
