Short Codes

This question is perhaps for okes with WASPA experience or something. We make use of a service provider to collect leads from the general market with one of those short codes - SMS your name to 31234 for example. If we wanted to take ownership of that short code (31234) what would we need to do? At present, SMSes go to the code and an API feeds the lead through to my system. I would like to have that SMS come straight to equipment on my side. Is that possible? And what equipment would I need?

I'd imagine you'd probably have to purchase the rights to the short code from the provider - I'm not sure if they own or rent those rights.

As for the equipment needed I know there's a piece of kit (not sure of the name) that you can install in your DC that takes a whole bunch of SIM cards - I'm sure you could use something like that to receive messages sent to your short code.
