Shortlisting candidates who cannot be appointed

Irrelevant because you say so? That smacks of idiocracy!

As you say, being on the employing side recently hardly makes you knowledgeable nor trustworthy, rather sit back and leave it to the professionals.

I agree with you about the race issue, the best person for the job should be appointed.

Irrelevant to the point of the thread mate, calm your farm... It's sad for any candidate to have to go through the recruitment process if they're DOA, regardless of race or qualifications.

I simply don't apply for positions that state EE, so I can't ever have this problem.

Are you white, or over 35, not the top performer at uni? Oh..nevermind. Sad actually how the top positions are so white at these tech companies in the new SA. Usually when going for an interview I go into the website, freakin hell, must send a mail to that black land first lot.

Yes, maybe they shouldn't have applied. I guess people are desperate for work and hope that they will be the exception to the rule. :(

I don't want to sound racist but I find black candidates more educated and employable these days.

I think it really depends where you are, who is available and qualified, size of company, type of work etc. The problem comes in when a company can't find the right candidate for the job and is forced to use a specific race due to racist laws and agendas. Sometimes the companies even get told who to hire, or who should take a directors position, no matter if the person can do the work or not. In OP's case the problem is that people are still told to come for the interview even if it is decided before hand that the people won't get the work, no matter how qualified they are. So to take what you say: if they find 'black candidates' to be more educated and employable, and they decided before hand THEY WILL NOT employ a non-black, why the hell do they still invite them for the interview?
