No, stay the course. This country's already flagging economy has been battered by COVID, corruption and an all high unemployment rate. This could be a good boost to CPT economy.
 
Like a toddler threatening to throw toys out the cot. There is plenty of other places to build a concrete jail, plenty of existing open office space, but no, "IT MUST BE THAT PLACE OR WE QUIT!"

Why can't they build on privately owned land that some poor sod paid for and now cannot use?

For making a stupid statement like that, you deserve to spend 10 years dealing with your local municipality getting a plan approved.
 
If the so called first nation Khoi Polloi will employ all those that would have been employed by Amazon - then yes.

Why can`t they just have their jail in another place? CPT dams are already not enough to sustain the population. Halt all development until water security is improved. Without water security, development is regress not progress.

They paid for a lemon. Its not anyone else's fault but their own

You buy a car in perfectly functioning order.
A South African court determines that the shape of the car is offensive to the bahupata people and says that you are not allowed to drive it because it offends them, unless of course you pay them R2000 a month. You still have to pay back the bank for buying the vehicle

But yes, it is the property developer's fault.

Isn't the solution simply to let Amazon pay rental to a court-ordered trust account, and then that becomes the property of the eventual winner of the case?

Edit: Of course the developer would have to be compensated if they lost, but it looks like that's highly unlikely given the support they have.

They paid for a Ferrari but now they are trying to drive it up the Sani pass.

Na. developer is the fall guy here. They can't deliver on their property so they take the loss. We will see now if the developer is just a shell company for Amazon or a company setup just for this development.
 
Logically, it is wise for them to do so,
but I obviously hope that they do not as it’s beneficial for us and our economy.

Amazon could make a private deal with the developer if it's not theirs, and the developer lower its rates in the gamble period. If company law allows such a thing, don't know.

Thing is, the opponents don't have much of a case left and even City of CT are behind the developer. So worth finding some bridge to bypass the red tape?
