Should HIV Positive people be branded

Why cant people either keep their pants on, or put a condom on? Is it really that hard? I did not find it hard at all, but back then it was more me not wanting to make a kid than HIV in forefront of my mind. But these days, I cant imagine ANYONE willing to hit it raw, or nama nameng! :D

Why can't they just settle for a BJ

:D

Ask yourself why HIV is a problem in some countries and not others. Then check to see if the methods proposed here have been used to solve the HIV problem in the countries where it isnt a problem.

You will find that the countries where HIV isnt such a problem, they generally have more respect for human life and treat suffers of HIV with some dignity.

Having sex with others without informing them you're HIV positive is a criminal offense in many countries, coincidentally some of the countries you speak of.

It's not an offense in SA.

I think people prefer sex without a condom because it's nicer, and I agree :D. Anyway, how will this work exactly, will the Swazi government test the entire population every 3 months? 6 months? Every year? etc. I agree with the concept of branding people if their are HIV positive, I am just wondering how it will be implemented. I mean people usually have to get tested 3 to 6 months after getting exposed to the virus or after you have had unprotected sex. So that means the Swazi government will have to test the entire population at least more than once a year, and that will cost a lot of money, and man power. And I am sure corruption will creep in somewhere, you could have a rich guy who is HIV + getting tested by a nurse of whoever, and then getting the sad news that he is indeed +, then you could have that rich guy offering the nurse a bride to not brand him and he will go out there spreading the disease, that has to be looked at also me thinks.

I agree, South Africans don't value human life anymore, the "ubuntu" BS that is being talked about it just a myth. So a person who is HIV+ will infect someone who isn't and you'll find that the main reason he/she did that was because he/she didn't want to lose that person and wanted to make that person like him/her (meaning the HIV+ person wanted to make his/her lover also HIV+ so that they wouldn't leave them)

Scientists have claimed to have found a cure as we see in a recent post http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=173023, which needs to have more focus on than discrimation to people who are sick and have a hard time as it is with the disease...
I found this very hurtfull for those who would dream to be healed and live there lives happily, being sick and having discrimination on top of it all is to much and in-humane.
lotsa Love and huggles

Treat it the same as leprosy was treated and then you will eradicate HIV.
Without regular testing there is no way to know whether someone has contracted HIV, and by the time they're tested they can easily have infected numerous others.

It's amazing how a disease like swine flu which has caused 30 deaths and has such s low rate of mortality is grounds for quarrantines and travel restrictions but one which kills tens of millions and has a ridiculously high mortality rate is so taboo.
Because the transmission is very different.

This would definitely work.. BUT and there is always a butt ;) .. testing people would have to be regular & mandatory otherwise there is no point as this kind of discrimination would make testing less popular and something people would fear and avoid at all costs such that they don't get branded.

But yah..this would be a human rights issue in terms of discriminating(although its a tough one as its for sex not work etc and you could argue this is protecting people)

Discriminating is one thing, letting people know they are about screw someone infected with a killer virus is totally different thing.

If that's a fact, it's disgusting. However I can see the logic behind it not being a criminal offence. Just think how many million more "criminals" could the government have? They can hardly deal with "proper" criminals let alone these potential new criminals.

I doubt they will ever cure aids, too much money at stake by curing it.

Money?
We are talking about LIVES , Life is more valuable that money and its the greatest gift you ever have in your existence..
Money is what is causing things to go extinct, killing the planet and yourselves.

actualy money will be wasted on a branding system, where it should have gone for developing the cure...

Yea sure in a perfect world lives would mean more than money but in this world money talks and lives come second.

Billions are a spent a year on aids research and if they cure it then there is a massive loss of income for many people.

Yes but you can't die for being Jewish, well in most parts of the world. What's your point? Cowboys brand cattle. You sandblast your car windows. Groceries have price labels.... see where I'm going with this? I think branding of some sort should be done, maybe in some semi-permanent way, as mistakes can be made. If some one had heamoregic fever (sp) they'd be quarantined. It should be done in conjunction with a huge educational drive too! This is a way to "quarantine" these people in a very discreet way.

I know if I was in the situation where I saw some sort of branding on a chick to indicate HIV I'd stop right there. How would I know otherwise?

yes it would be a perfect world when money becomes nothing but ... "hey once upon a time we used to buy stuff, now we can punch what we want in a computer and anything can come out via the matter synthesizer.."

anyway..

I would sadly say that I noticed more of that money went out on pamphlets, parties and workshops than the researchj itself. I have a freind who had been working on nanotech to try and sort it out, naw these are not sexy nano-bots, but more like metalic balls operated with ultrasound to bombard the viruses.. so its like having a battle in your own body.. I dont know how it worked but it sounded positive.. But i get upset when the money goes waisted on promoting research and workshops than the research itself.
