Should I boycott Samsung, Vodacom or both?

Who is responsible for the Android software updates? Is the the phone manufacturer or the mobile carrier?

With my last update they installed a Facebook app on my phone that I can't remove. Installing apps with mandatory updates is not okay.

I'm trying to figure out who I should boycott. Samsung, Vodacom or both?

Both. Vodacom are deceitful ar**holes with their unrelenting marketing about being the best network in SA, despite every reasonable test not supporting that claim, and Samsung load their phones up to the eyeballs with bloatware and takes ages to update firmware.
