So people who have played the beta weekends and know about this game, is it good? Will it be worth the money?

If you even need to ask, then this game is not for you. :p

No monthly subs on a fantastic MMO riding on GW1's great community success & abolishing the holy trinity of tank/dps/healer...yeah - rather go play WoW. :D

Oi there's no need for that.

I played Guild Wars 1, and I have tried WoW and refuse to pay for playing every month.

I just wanted some reassurance on this game as I haven't played the second one, it does look good. but I don't want to play yet another farm until you are dead type game, and want more integration with the online aspect of gaming.

I have no clue. I would like to point out though that the answers you'll get in a GW forum will be heavily biased. ;)

That is a good point, but maybe people who aren't hardcore fans have tried it out and see my thread.

Well I maybe considered a hardcore fan, but I do think you will enjoy it as you don't know much about it :)

As you are looking for a good MMORPG with an easy means to interact and group up, or solo if you want, then you should try it. It is a persistent massive world, has a lot of stuff to do, some generally unique ways of doing it, and there is no monthly fee, for a game with the quality of a monthly one.

Just don't treat it like a traditional MMORPG when it comes to standing in one place and hitting a skill button... Learn to dodge and move. :)

The second beta weekend just finished, though you will need to pre purchase to get into the 3rd one. Otherwise just wait for it to be released some time this year.

On a side note. anyone who has played the beta?

How is the latency? I have ADSL 10mb/s unshaped, but the lines in my area are terrible and I only connect at 5.5mb/s and I get latencies to wow which vary between 200ms and 400ms in general (of coarse some days >1000). I have heard that GW 2 is more fast paced and action based, which is cool...if you not lagging. So has anyone tried the beta with a not so good connection speed, is it worth playing if you are sitting on about 350 ms latency most the time? or will I just get smashed in pvp. Even in wow the difference between a guy on 50ms and a guy on 200ms in arena means that the 200ms actually cannot win without outplaying the opponent (makes me sad).

thanks guys

Well, Diablo 3 had a HUGE build up and the game was ****.

So don't build up GW2 too much...

GW1 had farming as optional as the items had a cap and it was all about the skills you used etc etc.... the only thing that farming was good for was buying the expensive items (Same stats - unique look).

I can't give specific numbers since there is no built in latency indicator yet, but so far it has been near flawless. You hardly ever feel like you could have avoided a hit if your ping was better.

As for should one buy this game, well if you like the holy trinity, grinding, boring quests and gear based pvp then this game is not for you. :)

Haha, ok thanks, so lag is not so bad. Not much of a fan of grinding, but I do like my character being unique (something WOW no longer has, hence I no longer play). I love warhammer onlines PvP but unfortunately there are just not enough people. I will probably give GW 2 a shot then if lag is not too big an issue :)

Just tried warhammer space marine online, fun game but lag sucks.
