So i got the telkom simple 2meg uncapped at home but i have never went over 35GB a month, netflix and youtube is where most of that data comes from. I would ideally like to have 720p streaming currently only get 480p.

Would it be better if i go 4mb capped at 40 GB or 60GB/pm and getting 720p?

I am also taking cost into consideration, budget is R550/pm

Hope i made sense.

Thanks

Is this considering you stay with Telkom or change ISP?

If you go to 4meg your usage will probably go up as you will get a better quality stream.

My advice is upgrade to 4Meg uncapped first, then after a few months see what your usage is like.

I do 5GB per evening on netflix, auto quality setting, 4Mbps line.

For some reason HD does not work well for me, netflix wont go over 200kbps download speed which is only half my bandwidth.

I am willing to change ISP if i need to, the problem is costs as well, i would like to upgrade to 4mb uncapped but budget doesn't allow :-(

I also figured my data would go up once i have a better stream hence i doubled my current usage, i'm not a heavy user at all, just the odd times when i need it. last month i used 23GB.

Add R48 to your budget.

Telkom 4Mbps = R299
WebAfrica 4Mbps Uncapped = R299

Or transfer line to WebAfrica Uncapped 4Mbps = R549 (Save R1 to buy a chappie too chew while watching flix)

I that all inclusive e.g phone line rental?

Axxess is cheaper with their 4mbps uncapped combo @R499 for data and line.

You can get 150GB for R300/month. Unless you're going to use more than that, go for capped. Since you're currently only using 35GB a month, I don't see you getting anywhere near 150GB just by doubling the speed.

If you do find you're running over your cap all the time, it's always very easy to switch ISP's.

I would not recommend doing the line rental through anyone except Telkom, and especially not for a bundle, unless you really save a significant amount. ISP's regularly change their data pricing, so it helps a lot to be able to just switch from one to the other without worrying about the line portion.

go 4meg + 50gb bundle with afrihost for R397 (remember they are double dipping bandwidth at the moment so you will get 100gb till at least september).

don't let people put you off bundling, especially with someone like afrihost...their Customer portal is amazing and lets you customize your line way more than any other ISP. The support is top notch after they did a recruiment drive (my tickets are answered in 30min or less).

Uncapped is lackluster at best these days, Capped is the new in thing.

Afrihost option sounds good to me because i already have an account with them and i have tested their services before.
