Hey Guys,

Im currently doing my Honours degree in Computer Sciences and Information Technology and I continue every day to love what I do. Im going to be faced with the question sooner or later or rather the proposal of doing my Masters. I would just like to find out a bit of guidance beyond the scope of people that I know what some guys in the profession would think of this move? Is it worth it?

Currently I have 5 set year subjects; a Year Project, Databases, Data warehouses, Computer Security and Artificial Intelligence. My masters will include; a Year Project, Research/Development Methodologies and then 2 other subjects I did not take from the choices I had this year which will be Project Management and/or Image Processing and/or Quantitative Management. My masters is a 2 year push and funds will more than likely be provided from the University and just my living expenses will be covered so that issue has a solution. Would really appreciate any help in the matter specially from anyone out in the business and same field of study.

Regards.

My usual advice for post-grad is to do it if a) you can really do it in the allotted time, and b) your project and coursework are actually science based (as opposed to "computer education in developing countries" or whatever). In my experience it pays off.

Thanks guys for everyone's reply and help so far.

Don't do it because you want a better job, I don't think you will get much more advantage over having an honours degree.

If you love it then do it for that reason.
