Should I get an E90 or not?

I'm currently using an E61 which I'm quite happy with. I'm looking at upgrading to the E90 due to the larger screen. Seeing that they both use the same OS, I should feel right at home.

However, there is a potential showstopper: It would appear that, just like the E61, the E91 does not support the rendering of HTML emails. Anyone that has seen how HTML emails look on the Symbian S60 email client will agree with me that it is a mess. I was really hoping that the E90 sowtware will be better but from what I've read this is not so. Seeing that the vast majority of emails that I receive are HTML-based, this is a big problem.

There is one third party solution on the S60 that does HTML-email namely ProfiMail but alas, that doesn't support Exchange Server.

I really, really like the E90 but if someone cannot suggest a solution to this then I'll have to move over to Windows Mobile.

My requirements are:
* large screen
* QWERTY keyboard
* HTML email support
* Exchange Server support
* GPS
* 3G HSDPA

What options do I have?

The one thing that got me over and over again with the E90 was the fact the emails looked horrible. You have this amazing, high quality, large screen...and my emails all came out as a bunch of garbled HTML hyperlinks, that you couldn't even click.

The other thing that got me was it's size. It was never worth it to me to carry around such a big device, especially considering email was my single most important point.

I never got around to getting a TyTN II, but from previous WM6 devices, the HTML email implementation is great. The first problem is the TyTN II is a two hand device. You can't send that quick SMS with one hand while walking to the car with the briefcase (like you can with the E90). You have to open it up and use the Qwerty or the stylus. The second problem is the internet explorer isn't as good as the one on the E90 for full web surfing. The E90's web browser handles full webpages with ease, the TyTN II's is still a mobile browser in essence and gets a bit icky when dealing with large webpages.

Bear in mind that you only get HTML email on the TyTN II if linked with Exchange 2007. Exchange 2003 doesn't offer HTML push email. I think, but I'm not sure, you also get HTML if you iMAP.

If email is your big pull, I would say the TyTN II wins on that, linked with an Exchange Server 2007 solution, it will be king. I found my WM6 devices (HTC s710 and HTC Touch) used alot less bandwidth to keep my emails and contacts sync'd then my Nokia's ever did using Mail for Exchange and Roadsync.

What am I using now? An iPhone. Beautiful HTML emails and email- but then no attachment editing or file downloading. Getting a P1i to try out this week, and maybe a TyTN II in the future....

the E61 >> i? not html e-mail? :)
I wanted that phone

Thanks a lot for the excellent response, broken. I'll definitely take your advice to heart. Pity that the HTC screens are narrower than the E90's. That landscape screen is excellent for webg browsing.

@ Vember: Nope, the E61 does not render HTML emails. While you can read the emails, the formatting is horrible. Apart from that it is a great phone.

Technically, Nokia S60 phones do support HTML email, but not in the actual email. If you receive an HTML email, you go to options > attachments. You will find a file called "Attachment.html". Opening the file, opens your actual HTML email in the browser. The links work and the email format looks good. You can't forward the email as HTML though. But it's okay for reading your emails.

BTW, if you're using a web based email like Gmail or Hotmail, why not try Opera Mini. It's not as advanced as the S60 Web browser but uses much less data and web pages look good in it.

Thanks to all contributors. The lack of real HTML email rendering is a deal breaker for me. I'd LOVE to go for the E90 but it seems like there's an HTC in my future.
