Should i get an iPad 1

The price difference between the ipad 1 and 2 is so small, why not just save up a bit more and go for 2?
As far as I can tell (I have an iPad 2 and I have played with an iPad 1 before and after I got mine) the iPad 1 is slower. The multitasking is the same on both, and that is very limited. The graphics is much better on 2, 2 is also a lot faster, but that doesn't mean that 1 is slow, just slower.

If you don't put them next to each other you won't know the diff in speed. They run the same software so functions are the same. Go check out YouTube vids that demo the speed diffrace to see what I mean.

I don't know about price diffrace on new, but can suggest looking at pre-owned ones?

I'm in the same boat as well - dunno if I Shud get a good condition 2nd hand iPad1 or save up a few months and then get iPad2 ... Hmmmmm

I put my 1 next to a 2 and yes, there is a speed difference and the 2 is thinner, has the camera too but can't say I'd buy it for that at all. I know a few people who are still keen on getting 1's cause it will do what they need and are cheaper. I have a brand new 16GB WiFi iPad1 still sealed in a box which I may be giving to my sister, but if I don't will put it in the classifieds on MyBB incase anyone is keen on buying. (why I have it ... won it as a prize - lucky yeah - and I already have the 32GB Wifi iPad1 from when buddy brought back from USA for me)

Personally I must add, right now for me the iPad 1 is still better as there is no jailbreak yet for 2. There is also no indication when and if it will ever come.

Giving the comp a shot, and if that doesnt work im gonna have to make a plan to get my hands on either an ipad 2 or and ipad 1!

Let me know if you still interested in a 16GB Wifi iPad1 when the time comes for you to get, depends if I still have mine by then. Good luck in the comp. - but not too much good luck .... the iPad2 is mine !! ROFL !!

Since both the iPad 1 and 2 entered here at the same reasonable price I would go for the 2, but you might be able to pick up the 1 at a bargain rate, second hand.

16GB vs 32GB ?

is storage a major concern? I was thinking should I get to a store and they only have 16 GB left should I take it or not.

Reason for wanting the ipad is for Internet browsing and some ebook reading, I won't store music on it. (not more than 4 gigs anyways)
Games is also not a requirement.

Get the 16gb. The iPad 2 is a lot faster, and it has twice the RAM, and its nicer to hold too.

The iPad 1 wasn't slow but the 2 is noticeably faster, not just a little bit.

Aparently there is an adapter available to plug a normal USB stick into the iPad. If this is true then storage size shouldn't be an issue. And wrt 3G, if you have an iPhone then you can just connect it via 3G and tether your iPad to the iPhone for an internet connection when you are out of your wifi area

You can plug a USB into an iPad, but only to import photos, not to do anything else, like expand storage or whatever.

But I find 16gb is more than enough, for plenty of Apps, music and whatever. Tons of apps to stream video on my wifi network at home, and so I'm happy.

Not strictly true. I just imported an episode of a series into my ipad using the camera connection kit and an SD card.

Was thinking about getting a 32gb ipad 1 3g R3.5k-R4k or a new ipad 2 16gb 3g R5.5k when I stock come

I think I should get rather wait the while and go for the Ipad 2

Ipad 2 32gb, its inbetween the other 2 storage capacities and you wont be disappointed by the better graphics. Now 2 reasons why one would want the 3G , for mobile internet (cellc all supported) and onboard GPS , if you dont have a garmin or similar then this can be very useful :).
