Should I get Mweb all inclusive or seperate?

Hi Guys,

I am about to apply for Mweb 4Mbps uncapped and need some advice.

Should I apply for the all inclusive package ( line rental included ) or the separate package ( line rental excluded )

Unless you want a whole world of pain always get your line separately. It may be slightly cheaper to get it all inclusive, but believe me there will come a day when you will regret the penny pinching.

Dont do it just yet! Rather wait till the end of the month and see what the ppl are saying on the mweb threads, cos its pretty bad now. Hopefully the 'upgrades' to the system will be done.

If line rental was like R100+ less than Telkom, then it would have been a good deal.. but unfortunately that won't happen anytime soon

Cool, I'll apply for a separate line package then. Just gotta wait till Telkom activates my line. Will prob be next week when Mweb finishes the upgrades.

How does the billing work for the line rental? Telkom sends a statement and you pay via EFT or something?

EFT, debit order. Debit order really is easiest, but you may have to pay for it at your bank and some people get nervous about giving outsiders the ability to debit your account. Some companies have a tendency to keep debiting your account long after you cancel, which can be a real pain, but I think this might actually be one area where Telkom aren't so bad.

Does anyone know how to follow up on a reference number from Telkom? Wanna keep track when my ADSL gets activated.

Only waited 8 days for my phone line

Also, what does the self-installation entail? What would I have to do? Should I phone them and let them know when I finish the self-install?

They told me that the waiting period wont be that long since there are a crapload of ports available on the exchange in my area

I made the mistake of getting the all in one deal from MWeb. Now, if things dont improve within the next week, I want to change. Does it mean that I must cancel my line with MWeb and reapply through telkom? -- that would mean having to revert to 3G for a bit. :-(

I waited 3 weeks for my line.....but once its in, the ADSL conversion takes 24 hours

Ok just got an sms from Telkom. My ADSL has been activated!

Going to Mweb at lunchtime to apply for a seperate account.

Now I need a router ( not wireless ). Anyone know what a decent router goes for? I dont want the most expensive, just something that works.
