Hey

This is my dilemma:
About 2 months ago, my car, which was registered in my father's name got etagged on his wishes, guess he didn't like the bigger numbers on the bill as opposed to the smaller ones when you get tagged. So he made me etag it, and was paying for about 2 months (yes I know, sorry).

Then my car got stolen. So I went on the website and reported it stolen and de-registered it (cost me R150, bastards). After a while I got a new car and had it registered in my name, and since I'm totally against this whole etoll business, decided that I won't pay. So went to the website and changed all my details to bogus ones. Now I think these bills will be racking up against my name. I did sign that piece of paper, and I regret it, but nothing I can do about that now, but should I be paying? Any advice anyone could possibly give me?

Thanks

Don't pay a cent. Whether you sign or not, it cannot hold up as legal in a court. In other words, a document remains illegal whether you sign it or not.

I think that each e-tag is linked to the vehicle. So when you say you did sign that piece of paper. It only refers to the vehicle that you signed if for. (If i understand it correctly) Use the outa website to contest your new bills for a small amount of piece of mind. Otherwise think of it as your duty to stand up against them. They are offering 66% discount to get people to sign up, must mean they are stressing about money not coming in. Next few months should tell how its all going to play out. There are still loads of people not paying. You need to be strong and make the right decision in times of struggle.

Don't pay and if you don't use the toll roads often they actually forget about you...

Keep proof of you reporting it stolen and deregistering it on the Sanral website. Any invoices that are sent to you should be disputed via OUTA's service. As long as it is in dispute you will not have to pay.
