Hi,

I need some advice regarding an ADSL data product. I'm on a 4mbps ADSL line and for a data provider i have to pick either the Telkom do Uncapped 4mbps or the MWEB premium uncapped 4mbps. The telkom deal costs about R200 less than the mweb deal so I would prefer the Telkom option but I have heard of Telkom throttling its users. I'm currently with MWEB but the telkom deal is cheaper. And I use roughly 80-130gb of data per month. If I go with Telkom, will I get the same as what I'm currently getting with mweb or will I lose out?

Thanks in advance!

You'd very easily get that on a 1 or 2Mbps uncapped service without any form of throttling or shaping.

I've done 250GB on TI 4Mbs uncapped this month (ask for Do Uncapped Premium) and, tho' the TI Tracker says my usage is getting high, I've yet to see any sign of throttling.

SOrry, i don't understand exactly what you mean? What will I get?

Also, if I plan on increasing my downloads to roughly 150-200GB a month, what service provider would you recommend?

Any 2Mbps uncapped account will give you that - from any ISP.

Give me what? 80-130gb of usage or give me a throttled service or what do you mean? Soryy, I'm not trying to be rude, i just want to understand everything.

Also, thanks for the advice.
A 1Mbps uncapped product will easily satisfy your current data needs (80-130GB per month).
A 2Mbps uncapped product will easily satisfy your additional data needs (150-200GB per month).

Don't go with MWEB atm.. I am so pissed of with the bad packet loss and sh*t download speeds

Have you look at others?
What about PLUGG? They are the consumer branch for IS and they have one of the best ADSL services in the country.
www.plugg.co.za
I use them and for ADSL services they are the best.

Just check on the adsl forum and read the comments about plugg. I think you can even get a trial account.

Unshaped too I believe.

Not quite...

Read the question "Why should I pay for an Uncapped account when I don't get full speed on downloads?"

They are shaped accounts.
I just called them because I am considering moving from an Mweb account - basically paying for a 4MB uncapped and could get a 10MB uncapped with them... however they don't offer trial uncapped accounts.

Seems they don't have the capacity they brag about.

I get about 160gb on a 1mb line and use Mweb premium. So go Telkom if you saving money.

Also, on the telkom website it mentions that the so premium account supports "1 Concurrent Session ". Do you perhaps know what that means?

You cant connect from a deferent location with the same account details.... basically.
If you already logged on with the same account.
