You think 65 is old? At first I felt insulted, but now I'm just laughing. You sure have a bit of growing up to do.
 
yeah, that 65 statement is a bit rough, how do you expect people that age to get around, bus, taxi? no way, just remember, one day you will be that age and will also want to drive...
 
Take him out for dinner. be careful if he has a handbag (he might smack you with it later on)

Apart from that, had this happened to me and I was on my bike, I'd probably have some serious injuries or be dead. He was irresponsible and should have known better.

i'd have checked how much it costs to fix and give the option of dealing directly or with insurance company. (that's about the most you can do to be nice without coming off with a loss)

Hehe, this one outoppie had a tennis ball suspended from the gargage ceiling so he knew that he had to stop when it hit the windscreen. Usually he would just drive into a wall.

Seriously though, there are some old people on the road that should not be driving. In a small town you start remembering their cars and stay as far away from them as possible.

The damage has been quoted at 35k, so its over to the insurance and they can do everything...I did manage to negotiate the excess though so I guess its not all bad.
from what i understand the insurance company is gonna hound him for the cash no matter what, so i cant be blamed for being cruel to the elderly!!

While I wouldn't ban old people altogether, what I would like to see implemented is a mandatory test every 10 years. Important things to test would be things like eyesight, reflexes and reaction time.

Likewise there are some 40 year olds who should not be on the road, but there's no way to weed out the rot without any form of testing.
 
Somewhere down the line old people just decided "**** it, I'm not looking, I'm backing out of my drive way and if you're there, tough"

They do that in Oz, the UK and the States already - not likely here.

There are a lot of 20-somethings around who shouldn't have a licence either. Point is, some people just can't drive a car safely and responsibly, regardless of their age.
