I've always thought of Voda as my own personal "least evil" when it comes to our mobile service providers but I just want to give credit where it's due.

Towards the end of December 2017 I loaded a few data bundles to my line (about 30GB total) and was using my phone as a mobile hotspot for my family while we were away from the house and we inadvertently depleted the bundles and I ended up with an extra R6k OOB surprise to my bill since my phone was basically unattended (couldn't see the notices) and this happened over the course of 12 hours or so. I was annoyed at Voda for letting the OOB usage reach such an obviously abnormal level but I was going to take the lesson and pay the R6k as school fees.

My Jan invoice only included the extra bundles that I had bought and no OOB was charged. I breathed a sigh of relief at not having to pay an R8k phone bill in Janu-worry but I know that Vodacom never forgets. Sure enough, the Feb invoice included the extra R6k OOB charges.

To my surprise, Voda called me and are reducing the R6k in OOB charges by a whole R5k, which means I'll only be liable to pay a grand. The only catch is that they're loading a 3GB recurring bundle to my package "to see if it will assist in curbing my OOB usage" but I can cancel that at anytime.

So yeah, just thought I'd commend them for this act of "kindness" since I wouldn't hesitate to berate them if I had had to pay the bill. Good on you, Vodacom. And thank you.

Tell them you love them and they are the best "i am a loyal customer" to the Woza Network

They are just so kind to only rip you off R1k for going OOB.
B.S.
The right thing to do is to stop your usage immediately it goes out of bundle.
There are lots of threads about this on MyBroadband.

Sure, at the same time though it was my own fault, my phone has a data limit that I usually impose but I removed it due to buying new bundles instead of adjusting it upwards. I had already made peace with paying the school fees so I'll take a R1k lesson over a R5k one any day.
