I sold a watch through here once but this group seems to be forever put on pause for whatever reason.

The admin on there has a few screws loose, seems they've left South Africa but why not just hand over the reins to someone else

"group on pause again until I can find the time to remove each member and close group permanently."

They need to

Thanks, yeah, I see lots of those SKMEI etc. brands on there.

I still like my Duro, thinking of getting one for my dad for father's day later this year.
It's only been about 9 hours of ownership. But very happy with it; it's got a nice big sturdy face, has a good weight to it and is well worth the price. It looks fancy enough for casual dresswear and everyday use.
I've gone for this price range because I tend to break watches.

A Rolex is a rolled chapati filled with a vegetable omelette.

The name comes from “rolled eggs” → “rolex”.

Typical ingredients

  • Chapati (flatbread)
  • Eggs (beaten and fried as an omelette)
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Cabbage
  • Sometimes green peppers or coriander
The omelette is cooked directly on the griddle, the chapati is laid on top, then everything is rolled up and handed to you.

I could never do this in South Africa, where people will follow you home just for your Rolex. Looks amazing though, well done!

My contribution to this thread completes my transition from iPhone back to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic:

Been looking at some watches, and I think these are my current candidates. They're all in the same price range (£500 - £600). I also loved the Mido Ocean star but it's double the price of these, so it's out for now. Anyway what do you guys think? I'm edging towards the Clemence as that's a local watchmaker here in the UK, and I love the look of it. Suggestions welcome!

Man, I remember when that amount bought an entry level Sinn or Damasko. Not the divers but still...

These look ok, the top one especially but personally I'd go secondhand before micro for an only watch.

You may want to check exactly which movement is used in these - they're all high-beat Miyota but it looks like a couple of them may use the movement with the date complication that is obscured by the dial. This means the watch will have a 'ghost' stem position and a bunch of components that are never appreciated.

So I guess you also believe the "savings" and original pricing on the Takealot website?

Those are overpriced quartz watches. Says "Swiss made".😄
It's about as much Swiss as my dog...

Fair value of those watches I would say is +- R2-3K ... at best.
