Device removal limit reached
You have 0 device changes remaining

Now I can't remove devices anymore. This seems to happened because I had my IP address changed because I had to disconnect because of power failure or pending lighting store.

I have sent support a detailed email hoping they can somehow solve this, but I do wonder how would a windows pc normally registers as a devices other than with an IP address.

It says "chrome on windows" "active" and no other means of identification :erm:

I won't touch Showmax unless they resolve the devices issues.

I have none of these issues with Netflix.

Also reported this back in December. No feedback . Canceled my subscription after. Showmax ftl

In the meantime support had "fixed" it by doing something to my current devices, but its a problem again today. They said they have passed it on to be addressed, but I see this to be a continuous problem if a device simply is a browser and an operating system.

The lack of 1080p was enough to keep me away, but I'm glad to be aware of this too. What a stupid system.

I didn't even know there was a limit on device removal. You can only remove devices 9 times and you can take a guess what happens on day 6 for a single person and a pc.

Sometime I get the impression I'm the only bloke who uses/watches ShowMax on their tablet/iPad.

The lack of 1080p is not a deal breaker to me at all.

All my "other" movies are 720p & for me its a perfect balance for size vs quality.

I have a large tv and a roku. What I need to be able to do is watch it on that.

I also had problems with the device removal limit. Every time I logged on it added a new device. My 7 day trial expired but i won't be renewing. I prefer Netflix ZA (the whole DNS bypassing is way too much of a mission for me and besides I don't watch that much TV). It may have less content but the overall experience is years ahead of Showmax. I have seen most of the stuff on Showmax in any way. I will stick with Netflix.

I'm very happy with ShowMax, it just works using an android TV box as does NetFlix ZA. ShowMax came to the market first so I'll stay with them until we need fresh content, can't see any compelling reason to go with NetFlix ZA based on content. The argument that we should boycott ShowMax because they're owned by Naspers expressed elsewhere is just petty.

No problem with devices, two android TV boxes and two android phones active with nine removals remaining.

Couldn't give a continental F about 1080p as the picture quality is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Haven't seen any buffering in 3 months except when switching ISPs on my 10Mbps line.

I initially had doubts about streaming on Telkoms ropey ADSL backbone but I've been pleasantly surprised. My eyepatch is beginning to slip and the parrots upset with me aargh :)

The device thing is a big issue for people like me who uses multiple isp's. Its totally bs to equate different isp = different device. Its not, its the same physical box, same device. Idiots even have the audacity to list different browser as being different devices. a Browser is not a device.

Rest of the service is fine but drop the device limit...

Not my experience with android, I switch between TI uncapped, CW capped and axxess capped on a daily basis with no impact on devices.

Browsers seem to be a different story I tested this option this morning and I couldn't get ShowMax to work on Win 10 Pro - Edge not supported, Firefox refused to install the Widevine addon (reckoned it was corrupt) and the Chrome browser refused to install for reasons unknown so I threw in the towel. Linux isn't supported so I'll try with Win 7 this evening (work comes first). BTW none of the aborted installs had an impact on devices.

Maybe it works properly when using an android device and is able to detect it properly? It doesn't for my pc or laptop, both win 10 devices.

Chrome has stopped working since about 3 weeks ago, last info I got is they are working with google on it.

Firefox and ie usually works. Was a struggle to get widevine installed for ff at first.

My listing of devices currently is that I only 2 device changes left and have 3 ie,4 chrome and 3 firefox things listed as devices. I have only used 1 desktop pc and 1 laptop pc to view showmax but 4 different isps from the start of the year.

I have mailed them why different browser are listed as different devices when they aren't devices and the email was never answered.

I suspect it may be a compatibility problem with Win 10 given my hassles this morning.

I had no problem installing widevine on Firefox/Win 7 this evening, ShowMax loads fine and remembers my account details between ISP changes and system restarts including resume points.

I've switched between 3 ISPs and my devices remain unchanged, 5 connected and 9 changes remaining.

... guess Showmax have a lot more work to do on supported devices.

At least I paid with ebucks or else I would have asked for a refund or done a credit reversal.

It is however still unfixed and having used it for about 3 days its already showing 3x devices. Its simply not correctly knowing what a device is and how to separate between them because said implementation. God forbid they just do the obvious while actually looking into the matter: remove device limit.

Chrome on Windows Active 2016-03-02
Chrome on Windows Active 2016-03-04
Chrome on Windows 2016-03-04

Just give a bit if time and I'll be back to 5x chromes and 2x actives without actually being active.

I doubt it they will be able to fix it because looking at the OP there has been more than enough time to do so. Hell if I wait so long to find a solution and implement it; I'll be long gone.

Next up its back to nextflix and hulu [or just torrenting] because they simply can't be professional or provide a-class user experience.

When don't you Tweet the ShowMax guys; if you have not already.

There are very active on Twitter.

Or is just not worth a hassle to explain to people who would not understand?
