Ok so with the router resetting itself more times than a sex worker takes off her underwear in a day with loadshedding, Showmax has decided I'm an evil VPN user and given me this error message:

Connection not allowed
Proxy or unblocking service detected. Please disable and try again.

Only I'm blinking NOT using a VPN and apparently they can't do anything about it, only Telkom. Somehow I doubt Telkom can help.

Do I tell Showmax to take their 3 month free package and shove it where the sun don't shine? Or do I have a remote chance of fixing the problem somehow?

(And no I wasn't watching all that often which is why its taken me a while to notice).

Maybe you got a bad IP address? What type of internet connection are you using?

Get some backup power for your router?

So, her ISP connection is blacklisted (IP range?) and loadshedding is not happening any more at this time, the blacklsiting would need to be fixed and loadshedding again would need to start for your idea to help.

Telkom are the only ones that can help, if they would, is another question.

The IP address range has been blacklisted, contact your ISP or Telkom to resolve it, it's not Showmax.

Thanks for the suggestions however after a VERY frustrating time on the phone to Telkom this morning with ZERO results 'cos no-one knows who is actually responsible for fixing the problem, I have given up. It was a free gift, so no money out of pocket, just bloody annoying.

Just need to make sure the damn thing is cancelled and I don't start getting charged when the free period is over.

How the (expletive x 10 million) did that happen?
ADSL has a pool of IPs that is given to you when you connect, someone else at one point had your IP and got it blacklisted.

Then yes this is related to loadshedding because I did get a new IP several times during the whole on/off/on/off/on/off nonsense.
Possibly, but you'd need to talk to your ISP or Telkom, Showmax has little to do with it.
