Showmax streaming quality/options

Dunno. Seems unlikely. Tried the app on Ipad. Tried it on my SteamBox and tried it on my PC. They all had the same result.
I suspect they are using a connection orientated protocol. Which is just stupid for a streaming service.

Showmax's streaming quality is extremely poor.
I signed up for the trial last night to test again after my first experience with them a year ago was bad pixelation.

Thought they might have switched over to HTML5 by now. But clearly they are still using outdated technology.
The pixelation is so bad you cannot even distinguish faces from one another. Its just shapes moving.


When Netflix gives me full HD and showmax cannot handle 80x120 pixels then its not my ISP. Its a bad services. And i will not pay the amount at the end of the trial.

Gets annoying , on Apple TV 4 when you 20min into the show, it freezes then quality degrades to 1997 era.
It's just not on.

Is it just me, or is there a noticeable difference in streaming quality between Netflix and Showmax?

Bad buffering and pixelation on series in Showmax - vs initial pixelation before far better quality in a series episode on Netflix, minutes apart?

Anyone else notice something similar?

Not only you.. I dont get buffering, but netflix's picture quality is way superior to showmax

It's ridiculous how huge the difference is. Hope they up their game soon.

I have a showmax subscription through vodacom but there is a billing issue. I can't use the free data I got for the promotion. My data bundle is being used and not the free 1gb allocated for Showmax. I logged a call but no one has comeback to me.

Strange thing I encountered this morning ( first time Ive run showman since the update). And now show max does not work if you use a service like smartdnsproxy (which I use for Hulu). It only works on 8.8.8.8
