Maybe its like in vista where you click the shut down icon but it goes into sleep?

no running xp pro and i am shutting down checked that a million times

I'm not too sure, but can you see a break in the green wire from PSU, if that is being grounded, it won't turn off. Thats my 10 cents

I think you mean if it's NOT being grounded... hmmm.. that's weird. Could explain a problem I had the other day. Thanks!

sounds like a psu issue. One often overlooks psu's. Got power - right to go. But not always the case. Got another psu to swap & test?

If the green one touches any black one = on. Thats how you jump start them. As for the problem, i haven't a clue then

yeah - knew that. But you're a boffin for thinking of it! Must be a psu problem...

thanks guys put my old psu back in case, works fine, must be the psu then the new one, oh well....have to take it back what a mission!!!

Hmmm same happens to me, but it only happens when i have my one external hdd plugged into usb (still powered on) when i switch the pc off. It's weird yeah, but when i turn the external off, then everything is ok.
