Dear fellow forum readers

On the SAIX network, I get disconnected every 24hrs for the IP Reset.

At the moment it happens for me round about 21:00 at night. This is VERY annoying, because I am always in the middle of an online game when that happens.

Is there any trick I can use to change my resetting timing?

Telkom surely knows how to make enemies!!! :mad:

I do not know of any "tricks", but to make matters worst as of 1 Nov it seems that Telkom will be resetting IP's every 12 hours, lets hope that as per the recent ICASA ADSL findings ICASA puts a stop to this practice as well as all the other cr@p Telkom currently impose on us.

The solution is straight forward.
AFAIK, IP resets occur 24 hours from time of line synch and authentication.

So simply unplug your line at whatever time of day you are happy for the IP resets to occur, and then plug it back in again to force a line reset.

Thereafter, the IP reset should occur every 24 hours from that point, provided your line doesn't drop otherwise.

Another problem with this 12 hour reset is downloads from sites that do not support resume will be lost if not completed before the reset. All this while we will be paying per Gig :mad:

Lewstherin and others, thanks for the prompt replies.

Am I correct then -->

Tonight, before I start playing, I power-boot my ADSL router. This will then force a new IP. Then I can play through the night without getting "IP Resetted"? :rolleyes:

Have a happy day
