Is there an up to date tutorial on how to get all this working and automated?

Specifically for WHS2011

I have an account with Astraweb, can you recommend anyone else?

Thanks

I am using Supernews and IS news server.

Ja, hence WHS2011. Will these two work with sickbeard?

They are news servers for SABnzbd.

You are looking for indexers for Sickbeard. The defaults in Sickbeard work well, and also add NZBSA and Newtown. Must register for each and get API info from profile.

Slightly OT but an alternative to Sickbeard is NZBdrone.Still playing around with it but pretty easy to set-up and works just as well with SABnzbd

Looks quite slick.
A quick Google for a vs comparison shows it seems to be quicker than SB, more reliable than SB, and greater chance of finding shows.

This on my to do list for today. Thanks man

Yep,it seems to be really quick at picking up shows and has been designed specifically for windows users. At the very least its nice to know there is an alternative if Sickbeard goes t*ts up

Thanx Mike.

Pleasure dude.

I used to be a big torrent fan and put off the NZB stuff for a long time due to laziness to learn and torrents seemed to do the job.
I had my torrents setup with RSS feeds so basic automation was in place. I was happy.

Then one weekend I decided to check out this Sickbeard, SABnzbd, etc... stuff. Took me a little while to figure it out and get the different apps talking to each other. Once I did - I was blown away. I had been missing out BIG time.
I might download one torrent every month or two now. And non movie or TV show related.

If anything - just check it out and see for yourself. Do yourself that favour ;)

Ja, I concur. Took me a while to get it all together and even now I need to fine tune it, but it seems to work a treat.

Done 100gb in a week on afrihost business uncapped.

Feb was the first month I clocked 1TB. Main reason being that my download/media server raid array crashed and I could not recover so I had to get a lot of my fav stuff in again.
Downloads have dropped to about 250GB a month now because we mainly use Hulu+ and Netflix to watch our stuff. Only download stuff for the kids or stuff I cannot find on the streaming services.

According to Mike's link:
Usenet may be incredibly fast compared to torrents, but my own experience shows the selection of files available just isn’t there, and it just isn’t worth the cost.

Seems like I will stick to what I'm used to. Have tried Usenet before but couldn't get it to work. Will check out a bit later.

I have Sickbeard, SAB, CP, XBMC all working fine on WHS 2011.

If you still need help, I can try to help you.

Need to try out this Nzbdrone app out...

Probably the worst reason to not get sabnzbd/sickbeard/couchpotato going, because of some random guy's opinion against it.

It is the best thing you can do to automate your downloads, and even sort it into xbmc. The few things you can't get on usenet you can still grab on torrents as a backup solution, but trust me, that will be the exception, not the rule.

Agreed. There is absolutely nothing I can't find TV Show related via NZB. The odd movie I have to torrent but considering I am a TV Show fan that is a non issue.

I would greatly appreciate your help. I seem to have got everything working except the intergration to xbmc. This would be great.
