You don't need money initially, most ISPs provide free news servers, including M-Web. The money part is only needed if you want access to international news servers, which are faster, and keep articles for longer than 140 days ect.

I am an M-Web customer and use their server for this. This may very well be a retarded question, but is a server like this only available to their customers or open to all? Would I be able to use the IS server in conjunction with it, for instance?

Nope, I don't think any of the ISP 's let non customers use their news servers. It's a pity though because the IS news server is great.

NzBDrone works like a boss, by the time I wake up in the morning my shows are downloaded. Only issue I have with it is the initial setup & sometimes downloading shows I already have (I move my shows afterwards), other than that I am happy.

Once you understand how the program works its actually easy, it will download the NZB file in a temp directory & then my usenet client just grabs the file from the temp directory & then downloads it.

I played with it for a bit and it looks awesome. Only thing that made me stick to Sickbeard as primary is the integration from my Android device.
