Sideloading Andriod on Samsung TV

I recently got a new Samsung SmartTV, and it’s a great piece of hardware, but I really hate the clunky and limited horrid OneUI Samsung OS…. Has anyone successfully loaded a clean version of Android onto a Samsung TV?

I’m guessing it’s probably an embedded OS, and there is no way of accessing the boot loader, but hoping there is a way.

If not, I will have to buy another chromecast or AppleTV, but ideally I could solve this with software.

Really wish I had gone for a sky worth or something that comes with a decent OS

I have Samsung Smart TV and I understand that you need something "new" but what exact problem do you want to solve ? Remove clunkiness is fine but that is not telling us what is it that you are trying to do really.

best is to just get a media player

the mibox is quite decent for the price and there are tons of apps you can even sideload

Even if it was possible, you really wouldn't want to be messing with your TVs firmware. It's tied to all operation and settings on the TV and you would likely end up with something that doesn't work properly or at all.

Probably will end up doing this. Have Apple TV running on another older (not smart ) TV, and a chromecast at the office on a flat panel. Both are decent, but the Apple TV is definately better.

Would have preferred not to have to buy another R4000.00 piece of hardware in order to actually enjoy my TV though, but such is life.

The Samsung TV OS is absolutely horrible. It’s ugly to look at, its workflow sucks, and it’s very limited in terms of apps and services you can install.

I really don’t understand why Samsung insists of messing up great hardware with terrible software. This is just as crappy as the OneUI crap they put on their phones! Why can’t they just use plain Android. My previous smart tv ran regular Android, and it was a treat.

I don’t really want to sideload, I just want to be able to have access to a proper App Store, and a more simplified UI.

I have used a mibox before, and doubt I will go that way again. They are okay for the price, but don’t compare quality wise to a Apple TV or Chromecast 4k in terms of picture and sound quality

Agreed. But would have still preferred a “free” way of improving the TV through a better OS, before buying more hardware to fix a problem.

I wish it was possible to buy a great quality flat panel in decent size, that has absolutely no software installed.

eish. Have you looked at YT videos such as this ? To see if it solves your problem, whatever that is because I have no idea.
