If anyone can give me a little more info please, I have a problem the siemens laptop a customers has just bought 2 months ago the 3g data card doesn't fit at all its a new card slot that supports the siera wireless data cards from Imate my Question if at sll possible will Siemens be able to change the slot. Are our cards universal or are these other cards alot easier to find.

Is it a 'normal' PCMCIA slot or an Express slot?

Obviously if an Express, the card won't fit. It's a completely different form-factor.

If a 'normal' PCMCIA card and it won't fit, you'll need to take it back to Siemens.

All new Siemens laptops have express so unless it an old Celeron M model its express and I think it was V3g who may have said the Option HSDPA card doesnt work on the USB to PCMCIA adaptor. The one I saw today had the 3G logo on it.

The card the client has is a Novatel U740. Has it been tested yet, if so does the Novatel card work with the USB to PCMCIA?

It is an express slot, does anyone know if this can be changed to a normal PCMCIA slot on the laptop?

Only other option would be for him to use the 3G router, but until the new firmware is released, he can't use the HSDPA card...

Help please, any other ideas? Apart from the client buying a new laptop!

The card should work, not sure about whether it will work in the USB to PCMCIA convertor but yeah.

You won't be able to change the express slot to on older PCMCIA slot in the laptop, and yeah the router doesn't work quite yet... but don't get your client to buy a "new" laptop... he's got a laptop that has newer technology... the rest of the world is just trying to catch up.

Has anyone tried the Novatel cards in the USB to PCMCIA adaptor?

Okay, then he will have to just put it into the cupboard with a dustcover until the world technology is ready for it! :D :D

Has anyone tried the novatel cards (3G or HSDPA) in the USB to PCMCIA adaptor?

Thanks V3g
Do Vodacom stock these adaptors? if not, any idea where we can source them and at what cost?

Chuck Norris doesnt need a laptop! what an earth for? he OWNS the internet remember.

He bought it for his son... However, since it is way ahead of "world technology", it's still lying in the cupboard!!:D :D :D

hehehe... i knew that would come back to bite me in the ass.... damn... but yeah... at least in this country... show me any really useful things that are available in Express card form....
