Sigma 50mm f/1.4

This is from a post on dpreview, by the way. Interesting discussion comparing this lens to the offerings from Canon. Not as fanboyish as the usual discussions there.
 
Perhaps its just me but in general I tend to feel that the only time test shots are of any use are when they're part of a comparison with similar lenses and that it's known that they're free of any major post processing.
 
I used to think that until I was looking for images in my post about the 350D kit. What I found was the mk1 kit lens is really not sharp at all. Of course, I haven't tried it myself, but I cannot believe that, of the several hundred images I looked at, not one single one was sharp at all. So no comparison necessary, I won't buy that lens.
