Sigma Warranty

eish, is it the same zoom problem? how long into the warranty are you? i just hope that doesnt happen to my lens anytime soon, im enjoying it so much
btw where did you buy your lens from bwana
This time its the AF motor (at least that's what it sounds like to me).

I got it from Teletek in Greenacres. There is still a year left on the warranty.

this is kinda off topic but i heard from someone that Katz is closing down. now i've bought my lens and flash from them, how do i go about with warranty issues? do i go direct with Sigma?

Took it in today - they've sent it to cpt (to Tudor) for repairs so I'll hopefully have it back in a couple of weeks.

wow you only took it in today.. you've been a busy man hey :P

It's a great everyday walkabout lens that lives on one of my bodies. I was still reluctant to bring it in even if it is sounding a bit rough.

in my case its my everyday lens and it's such a brilliant lens. i'm so lost without it.
thanks for the great advice on it :)

Meh.. now you've shown me another lens that I can add to my collection that isn't too expensive.....

*sigh*

LOL, i see there's a Tamron 18-270mm f3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC out and about somewhere. It's nice and wide and it is almost as long as the 300mm plus it has VC

Glad it's working out for you :)

With that range (28-300) its a handy lens if you're not in the mood to carry a load of glass with you.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I'm thinking....

My kit lens and 70-300 are always with me.. but it would be nice to have to lens with a fairly large range as well and the 28-300 seems to fit that bill perfectly....

What's the 70-300? Is it worth keeping if you get the 28-300?

the 70-300 is a Sigma lens as well...

and probably not really worth keeping if I get a 28-300.... but I'd have to figure that one out... just trying to see the different costs of the Sigma lens from a few diff places.

When I have a bit more cash lying around I'm looking at a 150-500 as well.. but they're just v pricey.. :(

I dont get to use it as much as I would like. :o

Well, I'm quite happy with Sigma right now. My 10-20 was getting soft on the left side of the frame - no idea why. I sent it in (it's still under warranty), which resulted in two positive things:

1. It didn't get stolen with my camera
2. They sent me a brand new one!

This leaves me in a good position. If I decide to go for a 5D or 5DmkII instead of another 40D or 50D, I can sell this one off for a better price.

Well the dentist just put paid to my plans to contemplate getting a new lens today.. *mutter*

All is right in the world again. :)
