Any recommendations for a signal booster, voice primarily, for MTN and maybe Vodacom?
We're on a farm and the signal in the house is nonexistent but outside in the office it's fine.
Also do these things actually work?

What are you going to attach it to?

You mean you want to boost the signal in your house (indoors)?

Give these guys a call, they are good. https://poynting.tech/contact-us/

I don't want to attach it to anything, it must just boost the cell signal so I can make and receive calls.

Will give poynting a call.

MTN installed this booster no charge after a few letters of complaint !20210105_095101.jpeg

That's the one we have at home, which MTN came and installed free of charge after complaining about coverage problems.

@geezer I can vouch the Cel-Fi Products work great for boosting signal along with the app works fantastic

I never could get the app to work, our Cel-Fi booster was so locked by MTN you cannot do anything else with it.

@geezer it works with bluetooth, but if MTN installed it may be locked
I can see the device, but I cannot access it. If I remember correctly, it was asking for a password, I just gave up trying since it's doing the intended job.

How do you interact with it, and is it for voice or data?
I have older people that need to use it, so the more it can be automated the better.

It's a "plug & play" system, no intervention needed. They came out, did the installation and then you're up and running. The "coverage unit" you can place anywhere in the house, it just have to be in signal reach of the "network unit". It can coverup to 1200 m2 of indoor space. More information here: https://www.cel-fi.com/pro/

Where did you complain to them? I know someone living on a farm and they get like 10 download and 1 upload at best and are more than keen to try get anything to get better connectivity - also how much did this booster help speeds wise?

I sent e-mails to [email protected]. They came out and did tests around our house and concurred we were in a bad reception area. Regarding the improvement in speed, I really cannot remember because it's my wife's phone. Not really a problem since we have fiber internet and connected to wi-fi for internet usage. We only had a problem with voice calling. She's on MTN. It went from "No Signal" most of the day to a full 5 bars after it's been installed. She had to go outside if she wanted to make a call most of the time. This was done probably about 5 years ago.

ah thanks you for the information i will pass it on and hopefully it helps the individual, they get like 2 bars signal :(

@CrypticZA it wont neccesarily give you a speed boost, it could improve it by about 1 to 5Mbps, but it will increase signal strength adn quality, we normally use them for Voice services aswell, I can tell you one place of installation had 1 Bar of signal, changed it to full 5 bar strength and calls do not drop and are perfect quality now

ah i see well it is worth a shot i guess, they get varied results on different parts of the farm it seems, so maybe it will help but thanks for this information i shall pass it on as well.
