Hi all

Signal strength on my decoder is at approx 70% but signal quality varies from a stable 100% at times to anything between 90-97%. Would the dish need realignment?

Also, when flipping through the channels using + and - on the remote, it often hangs (black screen with an error message saying menu 1,3 to reset). This happens mainly on the SABC channels. Would this be related to the signal quality issue or is it the decoder?

Many thanks

Don

Though it is not perfect, there should be no issue with that kind of signal quality.

The issue is probably the decoder. Which model do you have?

Your signal parameters are fine.

The lockup sounds like a receiver/decoder problem.

Thanks for the replies. My decoder is a DSD 990. What does a replacement unit go for and is there a better choice?

I had a dsd990 giving me black outs every now and again. Replaced it with a dsd 1131 bought at Game for R429 and haven't had a problem since.

1110 is been replaced with 1131.

I have a DSD990 (oldish single view) and my signal strength is always around 70%- quality always at 100% - I have only lost signal about 3 times in the last 4 years (for a few minutes max).

Signal strength doesn't need to be 100% - it is not required for a perfect data stream from the satellite.
