Signing up - Direct or via ISP?

I want to get one of the Telkom month to month deals. Should I go directly to Telkom or via an ISP like Axxess? It seems like the same deal, but via the ISP is R50 p/m more. Support might be better though?

Also, what documents do I need to sign up? Tried looking on the Telkom site, but didn't find the info. Thanks :)
 
With a good ISP the extra cost is worth it... going direct means having to deal Telkom
 
Go with the ISP. Telkom will want to run a credit check on you beforehand and they only accept debit orders.
 
Ok, I thought it would only be for contract options. Rain makes this much simpler, I had to supply the standard RICA documents and pay with my VISA card which they subtract the payment from each month, no debit order.
 
Will probably go via an isp then. Can't purchase the month to month deals on Telkom's website (so would have to go to one of their stores) and things like this don't exactly inspire confidence:

How is 180 = 120 ?
 
One advantage of using Telkom is getting multiple sims to share the data. I have the 120GB + 120GB package which costs R249 a month and 3 additional sims at R9.10 each.

In your 1st post you mentioned the ISP is R50 more p.m.

I believe that what you'd really be getting through Telkom, based on your screenshot is 120 + 120 GB (Anytime & Night data) for R349.

If memory serves me, then Axxess is R299 for the same, so in fact, Axxess is R50 cheaper.

Who knows what that 180 GB refers to, other than maybe, the max you can top up with each month, but why it's so prominent in the heading is also beyond me.

Btw, I'm with Axxess on the 80 + 80 GB for R249 and get 240 GB each month, because I have 80 Anytime rollover at the start ; these 2 Axxess deals are currently the best available for the price, far as I'm aware - with little lock-in.

Be aware with Axxess, though, if you cancel at any time during a month, the cancellation will only go through end of the following month, so not strictly month - month ; others have complained on this forum about it, after finding out during the cancellation process so as long as you're aware, I find it to be a good, value for money service.

..... your price, on contract (12 or 24 months?), not month to month I presume?

Axxess charges R399 for the 180 + 180 month to month package, so an added R50 for going through them and them having to deal w Telkom. Other ISPs charge more, so they seem to be the best reseller ito price.

Possibly worth going the Telkom direct route if you can get that much data for month to month, assuming you don't have to give more than a doc for RICA & ID, but debit order (to me) would be the main consideration.

Axxess / Afrihost have credit card payment options, which I'm on.

Correct, and 80 GB is what I'm able to rollover at the start of every month, because we're not such high data users ; last month, used around 90 - 100 GB, more than half of which was night data, so my current Anytime data for Sept wasn't touched (but only previous month's Anytime rollover).

I think I've found the quickest and easiest way, depending on what you're looking for. I bought a prepaid sim from PEP and had it RICA'd in-store. I can now purchase LTE bundles from the Telkom self-service page (after registering a new account and linking the number) using a credit / debit card / eft. No additional credit checks or debit orders :)
 
I bought this from Webafrica (as a backup if fibre goes down).....been waiting for 5 days now and still no activation, so yeah through the ISP also sucks

I think through Telkom or via ISp may be the only way to get the monthly (non prepaid) options, which involve the additional credit checks, etc.
