Silent Hill Downpour will be released today. I mail ordered mine so I will probably only get it after easter weekend and I'm really looking forward to playing it since it will be first time I've played a Silent Hill game.

Anyone else here getting it, or looking forward to playing it?

Here's the E3 2011 trailer:

I've seen some positive news/reviews on this however after having cancelled my Silent Hill HD collection order I'm a little miff with the Silent Hill franchise at the moment (why did they have to break such a gem from the past?).

Let us know how it plays when you get it - it'll be interesting to see what a newcomer to the Silent Hill series (enjoy it!) thinks of the newest entry.

I'll be playing this game on the PS3, I just hope the freezing issues will not be as bad as on the Xbox.

I'll let you know how the game turns out for me. I actually bought Silent Hill 3 (the pc port) many years back but I've never played it because the controls were too finicky on the pc, I might just decide to start playing it this easter weekend before my copy of Downpour arrives.

Here's some codes I found on the IGN website that gives you some nice weapons.

Unlockable Weapon Codes

When you preordered the Game, you recived a Code to unlock 2 weapons (6 total). Go to a Green locker and type these codes in to receive the Weapons.

.45 Pistol & Baseball Bat - 353479
Double Axe and Nail Gun - 171678
Rifle and Golf Club - 911977

I bet! Hopefully it plays nicely (if you don't respond again tonight then I'll understand why!). I think the worst thing is having it in your hands but not being able to play it yet (followed by having it in the machine but not being able to play because of an installation process). Hopefully you don't only knock off at 19:00 or something silly...

Luckily we knock off at 16:00, so I rushed home, disconnected the PS3 from the monitor, ran to the tv room and connected it up with my 32" tv (for a better experience, I usually just play in my bedroom on a 24" monitor) put the disc in and waited what seemed like an eternity for it to load... :D

I'm about 2 hours onto the game now. (taking my time to explore everything) Currently at the last bit of the Devil's Pit and will reach the town when I continue playing tonight. So far I'm loving this game, lucky I work so I have enough time during the day to work up enough "guts/courage" to play when I get home :p (lol yes I get scared easily), the game isn't that scary but I just hate dark places and scary monsters creeping up on me.

The PS3 has some freezing issues like the XBox but not as much though. I have noticed one difference between the PS3 and XBox versions. At the Devil's Pit part where you have to turn the three valves for the water wheel there are no wooden box that you have to move to keep the wooden door open. Seems like that part is skipped in the PS3 version. Maybe someone else will be able to confirm this, or maybe it was just a bug.

I will keep you updated as my game progresses.
