Yesterday saw the launch of the 'Silicon Cape Initiative'.
and i have to admit, it was THE most professional and buzzing event i've ever attended. To see Johan Rupert in person saying the Western Cape should have a tax free zone was quite something. And to hear Dr Mamphela Ramphele call some of the legislation hindering entrepreneurship 'stupid' was refreshing.

#siliconcape was even the 2nd highest trend on twitter for a moment.

Given the heavyweights behind this, i'm glad to be living in CPT, it's where things will change first.

I cant wait to move back to the Cape soon and its great to have non tech heavies supporting our cause.

it was officially a launch event, but it might as well be called a conference. there was actual debate, interaction and bloody good substance.

not just some smoke and mirrors like one too often gets from corporate events.
