what the hell are microfilters and do i need one if i have adsl ?

is it true that i wont be able to receive a call if i dont have a filter and i'm connected online ?

if i do need one ...any advice on what i should ask for ?

You need a micro filter attached to every device connected to your line except for the ADSL modem. This includes your alarm, fax, all your phones, and even that old 56k modem you might have lying around.

The filter prevents the adsl signal from interfering with any of the above.

Exactly what he said. Filters aka pots just needs to be connected between your wall plug and your phone(s) depending on how many you have. Also goes for faxes etc as the bwana said.

They should go for about R40 average i guess. Ya its a bit expensive considering what is inside it actually. But you should have got at least one with your adsl router in the packet.

The reason for the filter is becuase you have 2 separate signals on the same copper wire when you have an ADSL signal.
