Silverstream - Seems Illegal to me....

Hey guys,

Its basically Kodi with a addon installed on a streaming device. I'm sure this is not legal?
I have basically the same setup on my Fire TV, but I use Exodus. But I still pay for Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.

What are your thoughts?

Agreed, looks questionable. Just that lame youtube vid of the file-browsing ninja skills of the operator puts me right off.

100% illegal
Unfortunately so many people in South Africa don't understand it.
People stream illegal stuff with eg. Kodi and see nothing happens to them then try to turn it into a business with fully-loaded tv boxes and try to make R1500+ profit per tv box by saying Kodi(with a different skin) is all their own unique software.
Unfortunately pirate streams go down on a daily basis and if you buy something like that after a week nothing will work anymore and the seller will be long gone. The sellers have no control over the longevity of the addons.
There can also be viruses or keyloggers bundled with the addons to target victims.
What they also don't realize are that they are violating international copyright law and all the big companies will come after them.
 
Yip! It is illegal! First off, according to the link that dualmeister posted, it is illegal. Second, I went onto there FB page and put a comment stating that "this seems to be illegal to me" under one of there posts, and within 5 minutes, they had deleted it.

I actually bought one and its awesome - i have to point out the guys were very honest

The guy from Silverstream was actually very honest about what is legal and what is illegal. They have installed all the pay apps as well so you do have the option of Netflix, Hulu, Showmax. I hve used XBMC before but could never get it to work - so i'm actually stoked there someone local setting them up for us. They answered all my questions and actually helped me get it going over skype. In terms of value, R2799 is still a bargain for what you get. Illegal or not, cool product and actually very helpful nice guys. Just my 2 cents.
 
hahhaha...no not actually. from what i understand, no more illegal than streaming content on your pc? we all entitled to our opinions champ

Streaming from your PC is still illegal! So if you say that its the same thing as streaming from your PC, then you are saying that it is just as illegal.

I read dualmeisters link to the kodi developers problems they have with these people. Pi$$es me off because the Kodi team put out such a great OS and then you get the bottom feeders coming along and ruining it for everyone. Why don't they develop something unique of their own? Oh, duh, that's why - they can't.
 
Report the FB page as well...

Now before anyone accuses me of being an anti-piracy vigilante, I'm not. I couldn't give a toss how people watch stuff in their own homes, hell I work in content creation, my work is pirated...

But selling a droid box at twice it's cost after loading a FREE app and FREE addons to illegal content(that will stop working) is not on. Illegality aside it's a scam and a con that is marketed to people who don't know better.
