Why not just get another SIM or are you now sure that all used SIMs numbers have the exact same problem?

Also bought a new Vodaom SIM to use for mobile data.

Get calls and smses to that number.
At least the Ackermans account updates stopped after I called them with the persons details.

Short answer is, it's luck of the draw. There's a 95% chance you'll get a recycled number when buying a new SIM with any network.

There's always a chance that they may open up some weird new number range like "056" or something and you get one of those, but it's pretty unlikely.

I have never given the number to anyone, as this is a data SIM.
