SIM card woes

Need some help here, I have a Vodacom 1G contract, and a PAYG SIM , for when I go over my limit.
After recharging the PAYG, and converting it to data, I can't log onto Vodacom.
Same modem, Contract SIM works fine.
Same problem on a different computer.
I'm running out of hair to pull out ;)
 
Is the PAYG SIM new? Has it been activated for data?
What happens if you put the PAYG SIM in a mobile phone, can you browse?
 
Hi, PAYG sim has been used before, it can make normal phone calls, but I can't used the phone as a modem.
If I check the balances, it has 101 MB of data on it.

Can you access sites from the phone itsself?
 
All the services are active, can't access internet from phone either.
Helpdesk seems to think there is a problem with the sim itself.
Doesn't make sense, since it works for normal calls.....

Taking it to a Vodashop this afternoon.
Could it be something to do with this RICA nonsense ?

If the Vodashop can't help you, you can also try the walk in Customer Care. I've had great service from the one in Canal Walk.
 
Doubt its Rica, as your complete service would have been suspended....but then again....I am waiting for MTN to make my new contract active for the last 3 weeks ....they have activation issues as a result of the Rica loop they had to put in place....

Logged a call with 082155, and I'm told I won't lose my data at the end of the month :cool:
Also been told I'm not the only person with this problem, maybe it's true ;)
Waiting game, I just love waiting games :mad:
Wonder if I should take a chance on another PAYG sim, maybe put the absolute minimum on it :confused:

If it is a global problem, VCD should be able to find out more.
 
have you setup the device for WAP

*111# 5 then follow the prompts etc.

If the network has problems It can take a while to become active.

If that does not work then buy another SIM and ask for a Sim swap.
