I have a data contract for my Dad, he is in CT, I am in PE

I had to buy a new router for him as it looks like vodacom has re-farmed 3g frequency in his area for LTE and his router only does 3g

The new router is micro sim though :(

Does anyone know if I can go into Vodacom PE and authorise a sim swap for my dad to go pick up in Cape Town, or even better, get delivered?

Leno, pick one of the exotics in your grand garage and take it for a long drive. Don't quit being a legend now.

However, if you insist on keeping the mileage low on the entire collection, you could log in on the MyVodacom app and navigate to the More menu and click on RICA a Friend.

But watch out - she is frequently trying to be more than a friend to newcomers.

Leno;

You could write out an Authorization Letter, Physically Sign it and send it along with a clear copy of your ID to your Dad in Cape Town. On the letter it should state the reason for the letter, giving your dad approval and confirming your ID number with the cell number you’re Enquiring.

Consultants in Cape Town shall them assist your dad followed they contact you for Verification to access your account and perform the SIM swap.

At the end of the day your Dad will be provided with a new SIM (If a Data Line you’ll need to put that SIM card in a phone first to deactivate the SIM Pin if the SIM is intended to be in a router/modem) and pay the R100 something, then await the turn around time of 2-24Hrs (Most cases 2-4Hrs).

Hope you come right.
Regards.

Thx for the reply @JesterStudios I ended up going into the vodacom store here, getting the sim swap and then courier the sim to my dad

The verification questions they do for sim swaps are frustrating, I failed it twice, its weird how you can go into a store with payslips and bank statements and open a new acc but a sim swap has these ridiculus questions

eg
"was one of these numbers ever a home landline of yours"
"Did you ever have a credit card from absa" (does this include virgin money, british airways who use absa? lol

Lol

I had to do a sim swop last week on Friday.

They asked me about my company name and when I registered it. Even went as far as asking where I studied.

Ridiculous, I tell you!

Hi Leno;

Yeah I totally understand what you’re saying, due to so much Fraud going on, (inside and out) all Service Providers has started doing these security questions for the consumers protection.

Note: If you’ve never had what they asking or nothing is recognized - say “None of these.”

Those kind of complex questions are annoying. I was once asked if I received my bill at (home address). The problem is that while that's my billing address, I receive my bills via email.

Its a pitty the consumer has to pay because of internal problems (fraudulent sim swaps by staff), ill def avoid using Vodacom because of this (Ordering a new sim from Afrihost or rain is simple)

I dont see how a bank can rely on OTP and other technology for security but Vodacom cant lol

We did do "None of these" but it didnt help
