Sim swap problems

I lost my cell phone last week along with my sim card and I've been trying to do a sim swap since Monday. Unfortunately the customer service told me I failed the security questions and when I go to the nearest cell c store it’s the same with the numbers I provide. I really need those numbers back. All my things are linked to those numbers.

Can't you just provide them your ID and they can match your ID number to the ID number registered to the number?

They don't allow that, they strictly need those numbers.

Telkom is the only one that uses your fingerprint(s) to verify your identity and then do your sim swop without the hassle of numbers dialed.

That's so dumb, I mean what better proof can you get than someone presenting their ID card that matches the ID number in the RICA info for the sim card.
