SimCity pre-order: balancing your budget

Anyone know when the digital mac version will be out ?
 
Has anybody in ZA played it yet? I assume we have to use the UK servers as our release was bundled with theirs.

You can use anyserver but just be warned as soon as they become busy you can't join them anymore so then you need to select a new server.

Heh, I loved the SimCity series, but it looks like I won't be buying this one.... esp. if I understand that you can only save it online, that is BS.

i will probably get my hands on this, when someone has developed a crack to stop this always on reliance on a damn server.
 
Morning all, been checking some gameplay from the game yesterday and looks pretty amazing, tbh i have seen some post here which complains alot regarding server problems, i work with servers myself on a daily basis and i know how they feel, and i don't care about that if you gonna deny someone buying the game for that.

I am about to head out to buy the game is it worth it?

R350? Worth it? That I cannot say. But is it fun? Oh, yes.

The trouble is that you probably won't get the Limited edition now. The only difference is that you don't get the Superhero/Supervillan bit. Not that you need them but the standard edition is the same price as the Limited. I got the Collectors edition and I thought that was meant to come with all of the European tile sets. But I think that there is only some of the British stuff - so I guess an arguement is about to brew.

On the servers - way, way better on Sunday than it was on Friday. It should never have happened but EA and Maxis did respond really quickly to the mess they caused.

And the always On Line thing means that you cannot rollback (although the servers will sometimes do that for you :)).

Won't be happening soon, I'm afraid. The game requires constant access to a server to run. So unless you've got a virtual server running an emulator, it won't work. It's the same as Diablo 3 as I understand it. Can't just block the "always online" component and keep playing.
